Abdel J. Fernandez born and raised in San Luis, in the tobacco-producing region of Pinar del Río, Cuba, he assimilated traditional cultivation and fermentation techniques from his youth, influenced by his grandfather and father. After migrating to Nicaragua in the early 2000s, he began with a modest operation of six rollers in Estelí. Today, Tabacalera AJ Fernandez is a massive vertically integrated empire producing over 100,000 cigars daily, controlling everything from the development of hybrid seeds on its own farms to meticulous fermentation and manual rolling. His ability to balance potent blends has led global brands like Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta to entrust him with the production of their legacy lines.
