Fonseca
The Fonseca brand was founded in Cuba by Francisco Fonseca in 1892 (officially registered in 1907), making it one of the oldest pre-revolution brands still in existence. Fonseca had a strong interest in military history, hence all cigar vitolas under the brand are named with military themes, a tradition that continues to this day. The brand pioneered the tradition of wrapping cigars in white tissue paper, serving the functions of moisture retention, damage prevention, and aesthetics. It remains the only Cuban cigar brand that still uses this technique. Its flavor profile is notably known for a "salty" characteristic.
